About
Viola Rama is a visual artist based in Italy, with a background in fine art, photography, and graphic design.
She works with a multidisciplinary approach, exploring themes of femininity, identity, and posthumanism, and a wide range of common social roles and stereotypes.
Often using humor as a tool for social commentary, she deconstructs and reinvents the human appearance, creating a hyper-reality in which the corporal body is used to analyze the interconnections between the natural and the artificial.
Through her practice she satirizes the desire for perfection and the fascination with technology in the contemporary world, while touching upon the discomfort elicited by the uncanny.

The augmented and idealised self has become one of the most widespread paradigms of contemporary society. Much of the modern individual’s dreams and aspirations converge towards achieving a positive mind within a perfect body: a combination of fitness, beauty treatments and artificial implants. This seductive, ageless techno-creature conceals an uncontrollable fear of death.
The Beautification series takes on the mystique of beauty in order to subvert its codes. It disrupts conventional representations of the female body and questions the commodification of perfectionism and self-improvement that characterise a society dominated by social media.
Based on photographic self-portraits in which the artist stages herself using various beauty tools and accessories, the project uses artificial intelligence to transform these images and generate surreal visions of bodies entangled in sophisticated technological devices — a satire of the daily and obsessive beauty practices imposed by unrealistic standards of perfection.
Work presented as part of the “Human Inside” exhibition at Galerie Artverse, Paris, 2025.
