Moebia is a comic strip created using an early text-to-image program, which explains its imprecise rendering. The collective imagined a story, prompted the text of each plate and asked the algorithm to create a drawing in the style of famous author Moebius. Informed of the project, the illustrator's publishing house highlighted its originality. Wouldn't Moebius himself have been interested in the experiment, science-fictional for his time?
This work points out the ease with which generative AI programs can be used to produce images with high added value, thanks to the presence in databases of a large number of works produced by image professionals. And, consequently, the risk these tools represent for them. Can AI replace an illustrator or art director?
