Believing that a large number of intellectual functions are gradually becoming replaceable by AI, Léopold Dumont, aka Takuya, depict a dystopian world in which he questions what will ultimately remain human on Earth. It's up to the viewer to imagine the stories behind these mysterious representations.
This series raises the question of the control of AI. In 2021, the European Commission proposed legislation aimed at framing its development in order to assure positive progress. The AI Act defines a common legal framework and risk management policy. It notably aims to protect the rights and interests of individuals, and requires compliance with rules of transparency. Adopted in May 2024, the text will gradually be put into practice.
While European countries are aligned with these measures, the USA and China are not. What will be the consequences? Will mankind manage to keep control of AI to ensure progress towards the common good?
Artwork presented at « AI, My Sparring Partner", an exhibition commissioned by Havas, Paris, 2024.
