About
With motion and emotion, Caroline Defrance explores women’s feelings and their place in society. The artist revisits the heritage of collage, a technique made popular by the Surrealists who used it to confront ideas and surfaces, hoping for the subconscious to express itself and “creative collisions” to happen.

ELLE.4
CAROLINE DEFRANCE
"Elle.4” is the fourth of a series of motion collages. It explores the feminine call for beauty and charm, and the possible way this is consuming them.
ELLE.1
CAROLINE DEFRANCE
"Elle.1” confronts a graceful and nonchalant hand, perhaps belonging to a model, a hand in representation. Slightly concealed in the image, melted into other graphic material, there is another hand, maybe the hand of the artist, at least that’s what we guess when looking at the xeroxed fingers, which are beautiful and at the same time worn, artists fingers. Creation vs representation. What do you choose?
