About
Nikolas Chasser Skilbeck is a video artist. His work offers a singular vision into a pictural world of “poetic strangeness”. Through different digital devices (screens, mapping on buildings, installations…) he shares contemplative images exploring the notion of duality: how an image can express something beautiful and terrible at the same time.

A waterscape passes through different states of color and light. The image nears abstraction, it is hypnotizing. It is in that elsewhere that usually characterizes painting. Yet we find a universal element: water. Is it primordial water or the water of the Styx?

A plastic bottle floats on Lake Qarun - will its message ever reach us?
This video was produced during an artist residency at the Fayoum Art Center in Tunis Village, Egypt. The residency was organized by the Centre de Création Contemporaine Olivier Debré in Tours, with the support of the Institut Français d'Egypte.
